The normal natural gas pipeline supply to Cecil Lake has been restored. This is following the impact on July 24 to Enbridge Gas’ Pipeline which services the PNG Cecil Lake Station and supplies natural gas to the Cecil Lake area. Throughout our response, PNG’s priorities were to ensure both public safety and the continuity of gas supply to Cecil Lake.
Upon receiving notification of the impact, PNG immediately implemented our well-practiced emergency plan, and put measures in place to isolate the system, maintain supply and arrange for additional gas supply. We used gas already in the system and deployed a Compressed Natural Gas trailer to ensure the continuity of supply to the majority of customers.
Over the next few days, PNG will be demobilising the temporary gas supply and reconnecting the small number of customers that were interrupted.
Our overall response was aided by the support we received from the Peace River Regional District, the community and our contractors, including Plum Energy.
On behalf of PNG, thank you to everyone who assisted us with this response. We greatly appreciate your contributions to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to the Cecil Lake community.
