PNG continues to maintain service to Cecil Lake customers amidst damage to pipeline servicing the PNG system

On July 24, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Pacific Northern Gas was informed by Enbridge Gas that there was an impact to their Pipeline, which services the PNG Cecil Lake Station and supplies natural gas to the Cecil Lake area.

Following the impact, PNG immediately activated its emergency plan and put measures in place to isolate the system, maintain supply and arrange for additional gas supply.

PNG used gas already in the system, and deployed a Compressed Natural Gas trailer early on Sunday morning, to ensure the continuity of supply to the majority of its customers in the Cecil Lake area. PNG is working with those customers that were interrupted on Saturday to reconnect their service.

PNG is confident that there should be no further interruption to gas supply as the connection to pipeline gas is re-established.

Public and employee safety, and reliability of service, are PNG’s top priorities. Our system has an excellent reliability and safety record as a result of our commitment to system maintenance and safe practices for those working on and around our system.
