PNG Contributes $5,000 for Lunch Program
TERRACE, B.C., December 21, 2021 – Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. (PNG) is donating $5,000 to provide a healthy lunch for up to 75 students a day at Skeena Middle School in Terrace, B.C.
“When we heard kids at the school might go hungry, we immediately wanted to step up,” said PNG Manager responsible for community investment Al Kleinschmidt. “PNG cares about the safety and well-being of communities we serve and it starts with our young community members.”
PNG is making the donation through the Vancouver Sun’s Adopt-A-School Program, which has donated more than $8 million to hundreds of schools and community groups across B.C. since 2011.
“It would be difficult to continue to offer a decent lunch for our students in need without this funding from Pacific Northern Gas,” said Skeena Middle School Vice-Principal Sonja Donnan. “We know students are more focused when they’ve eaten a good meal and PNG’s donation will go a long way to supporting kids to learn.”
Skeena Middle School is the only middle school in Terrace and has 570 students in Grades 7 to 9. PNG’s donation will fund school lunches to the end of June 2022.
“PNG understands education is key to raising our kids to be leaders of tomorrow,” said PNG Customer Service Manager Chad Taylor. “With this donation, we’re aiming to help kids where we work and serve to have what they need to learn and reach their goals.”
