Furnace, Boiler, and Water Heater Rebates for Indigenous Band Operated Buildings or Housing

Our furnace, boiler, and water heater replacement program offers rebates after or up front (only through PNG preferred contractors) to customers who purchase and install a high efficiency ENERGY STAR natural gas or propane furnace, boiler, or water heater to replace their existing, working, unit.

THIS PROGRAM ENDS WHEN FUNDING HAS BEEN FULLY ALLOCATED OR NEW ENDING DATE IS POSTED HERE.

How to Qualify

Homeowners and long-term renters or lease holders that are PNG customers living in a detached home, townhome, duplex or mobile home are eligible to apply. To qualify, housing or public buildings must be existing PNG customers and must be owned or operated by First Nations governing bodies, and public buildings must be on non-residential rates.

To qualify for this program, you need to meet a few simple conditions:

  1. You must be a PNG non-residential natural gas or residential propane customer, in housing or a public building owned or operated by a First Nations governing body, in colder climate zones 6 or 7A (excludes coastal temperature regions such as Prince Rupert and Kitimat).
  2. The completed application, including the proof of purchase and installation must be received within six (6) months of the installation date.
  3. You must purchase and install a high efficiency furnace having a thermal efficiency of 95% or greater.
*Note: if you intend in the future to participate in PNG’s dual-fuel (or hybrid) heat pump rebate, a matched system is required to be eligible (a matched furnace and heat pump system will have a matched AHRI number which can be found by searching on the BC Hydro website: https://app.bchydro.com/hero/HeatPumpLookup).
  4. You must be replacing an operational non-condensing gas or propane fired furnace or boiler with an annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) of 80% or less, that is the building’s primary heating source, or an operational water heater that is the primary water heating source.
  5. Emergency replacements of furnaces/boilers/water-heaters are NOT eligible for rebates.

* You can find a complete list of requirements in the program’s terms and conditions.
