August 4, 2026
Beginning this fall, customers in PNG’s North East service area—including Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge and surrounding communities—who are currently on bi-monthly billing will transition to monthly billing.
Once the transition is complete, affected customers will receive one bill each month instead of one bill every two months.
The move to monthly billing provides customers with smaller, more frequent bills and more regular information about their energy use.
What to Expect
Customers may begin noticing changes to their billing schedule in October 2026. As accounts move to monthly billing, some customers may experience one-time adjustments to their billing schedule, including:
- Receiving a bill earlier than usual.
- Receiving a bill that covers a shorter period than usual.
These are expected, one-time adjustments required to establish monthly billing. They do not indicate a billing error or duplicate charge.
After your first monthly bill, you’ll continue to receive monthly bills on a regular schedule.
Do I Need to Do Anything?
Your account will automatically transition to monthly billing.
If you pay by pre-authorized payment, your payments will adjust automatically. If you pay your bill manually, you should expect to make payments on a monthly basis going forward.

Understanding the Change
Beginning this fall, PNG North East will transition residential and commercial customers currently on bi-monthly billing to monthly billing.
Customers can expect to receive their first monthly bill in October 2026.
As part of the move to monthly billing, some customers may receive one bill earlier than usual or one bill covering a shorter period than usual. These are expected, one-time adjustments required to establish monthly billing and do not indicate a billing error or duplicate charge.
After that, customers will continue to receive monthly bills on a regular schedule.
The move to monthly billing applies to all residential and commercial customers in the PNG North East region who are currently on bi-monthly billing.
Customers already on monthly billing, including budget billing customers, and customers in the PNG West service area are not affected.
Monthly billing provides customers with:
- Smaller, more frequent bills that can make monthly budgeting and payment planning easier.
- More regular information about energy use, helping customers monitor consumption and identify changes sooner.
Monthly billing is a standard practice among most utilities.
Monthly billing also provides customers with smaller, more frequent bills and more regular information about their energy use.
What to Expect During the Transition
During the move to monthly billing, some customers may temporarily receive a bill earlier than they typically would or a bill covering a shorter period than usual.
These are expected, one-time adjustments required to establish monthly billing and do not indicate a billing error or duplicate charge.

No. During the move to monthly billing, some customers may receive a bill earlier than expected or for a shorter billing period than usual.

No. Customers included in the move to monthly billing will automatically transition to monthly billing.
Your account will automatically be moved to monthly billing.
Customers should be aware that the timing of their bills may temporarily change during the move to monthly billing. After that, customers should expect to receive and pay bills monthly.
Customers on pre-authorized payments don’t need to take any action—payments will continue to be withdrawn automatically for each bill issued. Customers who pay manually should expect to make monthly payments.
Your rates are not changing.
Because you’ll receive bills every month instead of every two months, each bill will cover a shorter period and will typically be lower than a bi-monthly bill. This change affects how often you receive a bill, not how your energy use is billed.
Payments and Billing
Customers enrolled in pre-authorized payments will continue to have payments automatically withdrawn for all bills issued during the move to monthly billing, including any bill issued earlier than usual or for a shorter billing period.
After that, pre-authorized payments will continue automatically on a monthly basis.
Customers who pay their bills manually may temporarily receive a bill earlier than usual or for a shorter billing period during the move to monthly billing.

Service and Support
While customers remain responsible for paying their bill by the due date indicated on the invoice, PNG NE recognizes that some customers may need time to adjust to the new monthly billing schedule, particularly during the transition to monthly billing when bill timing may differ from what they are used to.
