Earlier today, approximately 95 Pacific Northern Gas customers in the Mount Layton area experienced a service disruption.

PNG Customer Service Technicians are now conducting relights and restoring natural gas service so these customers can safely resume use of heat, hot water and other gas appliances. Customers who have not yet received a visit from a crew member may call PNG at 1-800-667-2297 to request a relight.

We appreciate the continued patience and cooperation of our customers as we work to safely complete this process.

The service disruption stems from a technical issue on the temporary Mount Layton Hot Springs regulating station. This temporary station was installed in October 2024 following a logging truck rollover on Highway 37 that impacted operations at the Mount Layton Hot Springs Station, located approximately 40 kilometres upstream of Kitimat. As work continues on a long-term solution, the temporary station has been providing interim service to affected customers.

Today, our team successfully installed an alternate temporary station to help improve service reliability.
