Pacific Northern Gas is aware of a service interruption affecting approximately 95 customers in the Mount Layton area. This follows a technical issue on the temporary Mount Layton Hot Springs regulating station earlier today. A similar disruption occurred on Saturday, May 4, and service was restored later that same day.
The temporary station was installed in October 2024 following a logging truck rollover on Highway 37 that impacted operations at the Mount Layton Hot Springs Station, located approximately 40 kilometres upstream of Kitimat. As work continues on a long-term solution, the temporary station has been providing interim service to affected customers.
Our team is actively investigating the cause of the disruptions and working to restore natural gas service as quickly and safely as possible. We are also reviewing options for an alternate temporary station to help improve service reliability.
We appreciate the continued patience of our impacted Mount Layton area customers. PNG will provide updates as more information becomes available.
